Robert Brandt \u2013 Overview of the Gas Industry: Vision of International Gas Union (IGU)<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n As discussed in the last meeting of IGU in Kuala Lumpur, Dr. Brandt stated that natural gas will play an important role in the worldwide energy supply, given the increase of reserves and the impact that the mandatory reduction of polluting greenhouse gas emissions will have.<\/p>\n With regards to prices, the correlation between gas prices and crude oil prices until 2006 has given rise to a decoupling of historical trends due to competitive factors, including the shale gas impact in the market of United States and the high energy market volatility in general. With regards to unconventional gas challenges, we are facing: long-term energy, regulatory and social policy; high water consumption; new logistics infrastructure, production of large volumes of chemical effluents deriving from exploitation, new technologies and human resources. Ricardo Campins \u2013 Gas Massification and Development of the South \u2013 South Gas Pipeline Project and Petrochemistry. <\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n After a brief overview of the procedure related to obtaining concession rights for the project, Mr. Campins mainly discussed about the perspective of its development based on the level of existing reserves and the technical and economic justifications in case of possible scenarios. He emphasized the economic impacts due to their implementation, possible local demands and the current situation.<\/p>\n Mr. Campins explained that the project has been developed in two scenarios: A first scenario, justified with at least 3 TCF of already existing reserves, in which the first tranche would be from Malvinas to Quillabamba and a second one extending the pipeline to ILO. In this scenario, a liquids pipeline would not be built. A second scenario, justified with at least 6 TCF of reserves, comprising the gas pipeline of the first scenario and the parallel construction of a liquids pipeline which would transport, among other liquids, ethane for a petrochemical plant to be installed at the South of Peru.<\/p>\n As of the beginning of the south gas pipeline constructions, it was stated that, in case the project has the expected financing, these constructions would start in the second half of this year, by conducting preliminary activities; however, the construction itself could take place by the end of this year or early 2013 and be completed by 2016.<\/p>\n Eleodoro Mayorga Alba took advantage of this session to announce the publication of his book \u201cCamisea \u2013 Gas: La energ\u00eda que cambi\u00f3 al Per\u00fa\u201d (\u201cCamisea \u2013 Gas: Energy that changed Peru\u201d.)<\/p>\n Likewise, Roberto Ramallo<\/strong><\/em>, General Manager of Pluspetrol, showed the advances and achievements to date of the Camisea project, investment boarding on US$ 1,248 MM. He also explained about the perspectives of the project and the new investments in ongoing exploration and production. (See Presentation<\/a>)<\/p>\n Additionally, Eng Gustavo Navarro<\/em><\/strong>, Production and Planning Manager of Petroper\u00fa, spoke about the role of Petruper\u00fa and where the company should target.
